    Java Version Upgrade

      Dear All ,

      Please guide me how to upgrade java version 1.5 to 1.6 in my solaris10 x4170 machine.

          I usually just drop it into a separate directory and then path to it.

          /usr/java/current/bin etc...

          PATH=

          Then the apps that come with Solaris still find the version that they were written for and anything else finds the new version.

            /usr/java is almost always a link to the latest Java installed. And I believe if you download the Java SE 6 JDK x86 packages (http://download.oracle.com/otn-pub/java/jdk/6u27-b07/jdk-6u27-solaris-i586.tar.Z) and install them, it will update /usr/java to the newly-installed JDK. If not, simply run these three commands <b>after</b> installing the above JDK packages:

            cd /usr
            rm java
            ln -s ./jdk/jdk1.6.0_27 java
            </pre>
