    Link http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerConfigure not working

    Raj1976
      Hi
I am trying to configure Oracle APEX on your local machine for which I have installed Goldfish server and downloaded APEX Listener. Using Goldfish Administrator console I have deployed apex.war file and created 2 users as documented in the Listener installation guide. But, the problem is that I am not able to configure listener as the link "http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerConfigure" gives me page not found error.
Am I missing any step? Has anyone encountered similar issue?
I would appreciate, if someone could help me with this issue.

      Thanks

          Hi,

Goldfish... interesting... ;) Anyway, which version is it?
Which JDK is installed on your machine? Which operating system are you using? And do you get any error message in the log for the deployed application? Which status does the application have in your Administrator console?
And one last question to be answered: Do you have any other application running on that server instance? Or could it be there is a port conflict and some other service, like the database, installed on the same machine is using that port already? The latter question might be answered fast if you receive additional information about the issuing server with your 404 error.

            Hi Udo
Thanks for your reply and my appologies for making the name more interesting :). Given below are the answers of your questions. Please let me know, if you need any other information.

            Glassfish - 3.1.1
            OS - Windows 7
            JDK 7
The status shows up as Enabled for my application.
I have 2 DB installed on my machine - Orcle XE and 11g.
I get below given error message when I try to launch the application from Application Console. I have tried using port 8080 as well 7878 for HTTP request while installing Glassfish server, but I get the below given message when I click on the link.

HTTP Status 503 - Requested url http://usirvrba:7878/apex/ is currently unavailable.

            --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

            type Status report

              Hi,

so it could be your port 8080 was actually one of your database internal HTTP servers answering 404 for +/apex/listenerConfigure+ (which would be correct), and your http://usirvrba:7878/apex/ is not available because you haven't configured it yet. Did you try to call http://usirvrba:7878/apex/listenerConfigure as well?
If so, what's the output in the application log? (server-side, not in the browser)

                Hi Udo
You were right. It was the port that was causing issues. The link http://localhost:7878/apex/listenerConfigure worked fine and I was able to configure my listener upon which I was able to launch the application from Glassfish server application console.

Going through the instalation guide, the only link which is still not working is http://localhost:7878/apex/listenerStatus. I get the error given below. I believe, this is not that important, as I am able to log in to my APEX application. Do you agree?

HTTP Status 403 - Access to the requested resource has been denied

                --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

                type Status report

messageAccess to the requested resource has been denied

descriptionAccess to the specified resource (Access to the requested resource has been denied) has been forbidden.

                  Hi,

great to hear you can use your APEX via APEX Listener now.
http://localhost:7878/apex/listenerStatus is not vital for the use of APEX. However it seems you've either missed the configuration step "Create Users and Roles" or you have a typo somewhere in that part. listenerStatus needs a user with the role Manager (case-sensitive!). If you enter the credentials for such a user, I'm sure you'll be able to access the status page.
But as you say, http://localhost:7878/apex/listenerStatus is the only link that doesn't work, I assume http://localhost:7878/apex/listenerAdmin is accessible, right? That would be the administration (after initial configuration) and is usually more important for operating the APEX Listener.
