Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution

Trying to install guest OEL 5.6 x86-64 bit on virtualbox 4.1 (host - windows 7 on a hp elitebook laptop ) .

and it complains of

-->Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution

I am struck and unsure how to proceed .

appreciate any help regarding this.
