    Create a new Reports Server

    896870
      Hi,

I've installed Fusion Middleware 11g (Portal, Forms, Reports, and Discoverer) and try to create a new Reports Server.

      I found the following command:

ORACLE_INSTANCE/bin/opmnctl createcomponent -adminUsername weblogic -adminHost <host_name> -adminPort <port> -oracleHome <oracle_home -oracleInstance <instance_home> -instanceName <instancename> -componentName <bridge_name> -componentType ReportsServerComponent

But I don't know the meaning of all parameters.

Had anybody an example for me or is there a better way to create a new Reports Server?

I know the way of the old Application Server, but the new version had no add...script.

      Thanks,
      Knut

It's documented in the '[url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E21764_01/bi.1111/b32121/pbr_conf008.htm#RSPUB23348]Oracle® Fusion Middleware Publishing Reports to the Web with Oracle Reports Services'

          Thanks,

            Hi EJ,

I did my best, but it does not work.

            I try the following statement:
            opmnctl createcomponent
            -adminUsername weblogic
            -adminHost host.domain.de
            -adminPort 7001
            -oracleHome /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/
            -oracleInstance /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/asinst_1
            -instanceName asinst_1
            -componentName rep_test
            -componentType ReportsServerComponent

But I got the following error message:
oracle.as.config.ProvisionException: Failed to instantiate component properties.

I'm not sure are the parameters oracleHome, oracleInstance and instanceName correct.

Have you a little hint for me?

            Regards,
            Knut

              Hi Knut,

Syntax looks good to me. Two things to check:

<li>did you use the opmnctl executable from your INSTANCE directory or the opmnctl in $ORACLE_HOME/opmn/bin? You should be using the one from <INSTANCE_LOCATION>/bin.
<li>did you check the log files in <INSTANCE_LOCATION>/diagnostics/logs/OPMN/opmn ? These log files may contain additional errors which could help diagnosing the issue.

You may also want to check Support Note 961174.1 for explanation of the opmnctl command to create a new Reports Server. And if it still fails, consider to log a ticket for Oracle Support.

              Thanks,
              EJ

                Hi EJ,

                now is running.

                I've found my mistakes.
                1. The parameter oracleHome was not correct, it should be /opt/oracle/product/Middleware/as_1
                2. And it looks like that you must enter the adminHost without the Domain.

                The Metalink was very helpful.

                Many thanks for your hints.

                Regards,
                Knut

Ah yes, just noticed that you specified the MIDDLEWARE_HOME instead of ORACLE_HOME in your first attempt. Happy to hear that you spotted the mistake and that you have it running now.

                  Thanks,
                  EJ

But is not in this case, the ORACLE_HOME the MIDDLEWARE_HOME, I know the ORACLE_HOME only from the database?

Now I have a new problem.
I had to change the hostname and the ip, for the old application server exists a script called chgiphost.sh, but I can't find this for the new one.
Do you know something about it?

                    Regards,
                    Knut
