Move Backups from ASM to Disks

Hello all,

RMAN Backups are running daily with backups stored in ASM Diskgroups (+FRA1 - Flash Recovery Area). We want to move then to normal disk (/u03/backups) from where they will be picked up by Tape Media Management software.

How can I achieve this ? any issues doing this ?

Please let me know

    Use the FORMAT option:

    That is to copy the database across from ASM to NON-ASM disk right ?

    I am looking to move Backups in ASM Diskgroup to Disks.

    You mean you want to continue to backup to ASM , but then to copy the backups in ASM to the filesystem?

    If yes you can use the ASMCMD command line utility:

    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e18951/asm_util003.htm#CHDJEIEA

    Also you can use RMAN to accomplish it.

    Allocate channel to disk using path desired and run "backup backupset" command in RMAN:

    See this example copying backupset 42.
    RMAN> list backupset 42;

    List of Backup Sets
    ===================

    BS Key  Size
    ------- ----------
    42      3.00K

      List of Archived Logs in backup set 42

    RMAN> run{
    allocate channel t1 device type disk format '/stage_area/%U';
    backup backupset 42;
    }
    allocated channel: t1
    channel t1: sid=137 devtype=DISK

    channel t1: input backup set: count=35, stamp=766516564, piece=1

    Now backuppiece 44 is copy of 42.

    Also you can use:
    backup backupset all delete input; # It will move all files in ASM to Filesystem
    backup backuset all; # It will keep backup data in both location.
    delete backuset 42; # It will delete all backuppiece of backupset 42 in both location
    delete backuppiece 44; It will delete only backuppiece 44 of the backupset 42 in location '/stage_area/13mr07ak_1_2'
    See this example:
