HKEY_CURRENT_USER

Hi guys,
The company I work for does not allow local installs on the machine, you need special ADMIN priv's to do so.

My colleague has recently got QuestSoftware TOAD and Oracle client put onto the machine, but when we open TOAD and try to connect to a database, we get an error... Oracle Home is not installed.

We do not have the rights to install the Client, or to manually edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. If we were to add an ORACLE Key to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER key, and set up ORACLE_HOME in there, with all the correct information, would TOAD check this key for ORACLE_HOME?

I basically want to point TOAD to this Oracle Client, without having to get 4 levels of approval to get an administrator to do it.

We have edit rights on HKEY_CURRENT_USER.

Any help appreciated!!
