It turns out there was another application running (Plumbtree) that was accessing the same port as SES.
Both services were set to automatically start, so when the server was patched and rebooted the problem showed up.
Thanks for the help in tracking this down.
Even though I have it working now, I still have what I thought was my initial problem.
When I try to Start/Stop the service using the searchctl.bat file, I still get Invalid Username or password.
This isn't a showstopper as I can always start the services manually, but it would be nice to do it by running the bat file
