User prtdiag -v. You can find the hardware model in the first line.
Thanks for your reply. But I mentioned in my question itself that I need other way without prtdiag as it produces lot of verbose information. If prtdiag is outputting the hardware at the first line itself, then we can have a command or system call which produces just that information or fewer compared to prtdiag.
Run the prtdiag command under truss and/or sotruss. Figure out what system call(s) it uses to get that data.
