Hi,

I have a server machine SunFire V890 running with Solaris 9.

# uname -a
SunOS xcx4 5.9 Generic_122300-15 sun4u sparc SUNW,Sun-Fire-V890

For the past many days, I am observing the following alarms but not sure to which part of the system these alarms are pointing to?

For the past more than a month, the backups are also not working on this machine due a problem with the attached jukebox with this server. The jukebox is attached via SCSI cable with this server.
We have replaced the whole jukebox with the new one, the tape drive, the SCSI terminator, SCSI cable and also SCSI controller card on the server side. But still the backups are not working.

Can some body help me in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

They are pointing to a SCSI device/SCSI controller. Or to be more exact they are complaing about SCSI Target 3 on the SCSI controller mpt0..

Its likely that this is your tape library since you are experiencing troubles with it.

When was the last time you rebooted the server? Tape library problems are the only kind of Solaris problem which actually can be solved with a reboot..

    Whats the output of:
    cfgadm -al

    .7/M.

    Hi dear,

    Thanks for your response.

I have executed the command "cfgadm -al" but it got hanged. Tonight we will reboot this machine.

    Hi dear,

After rebooting the server, I was able to run this command "cfgadm -al".
