regexp_instr - what's wrong?

SQL> select regexp_instr('[X]D {X}D', '[\[\{\(]X[\]\}\)]') re_i from dual;

 RE_I
-----
    0
Why the output is 0? Shouldn't it be 1?
SQL> select regexp_instr('[X]D {X}D', '[\[\{\(]X[\}\)]') re_i from dual;

 RE_I
-----
    6
This is good. Hmm...
