I have tried creating a large C++ project via "Create C/C++ project from binary file" and have run into out of memory exceptions while the IDE parses the sources.
I tried to work around this following the advice in the "What's New in the Oracle Solaris Studio 12.3 Release" document, i.e. adding a -J-Xmx2048m - switch to the netbeans.conf file in lib/netbeans/etc, but apparently, this is ignored. In the IDE logfile I see that the IDE is still invoked with the automatically determined value -Xmx1024m. Also any other switches I tried to insert there (-J-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC, for example) are obviously ignored.
Does this not work as documented? Is there any other mechanism for this?
I use JDK version 6.0_30 on Solaris 10/x86 on a machine with 8G RAM.
