How to open an SR?

911168Jan 20 2012 — edited Jan 20 2012
We purchased a 1yr Oracle VM Premier Limited Support Agreement yesterday afternoon. The CSI number didn't work on support.oracle.com. I got the message "This Support Identifier does not allow registration".

This morning, I received the "Welcome" letter, suggesting I go to linux.oracle.com. That worked, and it accepted my CSI and made me the account administrator. However, I can't find any technical support resources on that site that refer to Oracle VM 3. There are some old notes about upgrading from 2.1 to 2.2.

Possibly, I don't get support until/if I register my system. (That's odd, what if I needed help installing it?). Anyhow, up2date nox register shows -bash: upd2date: command not found.

The welcome letter contains the statement "For customers who ordered [...] Oracle VM Premier Limited Support for Oracle VM, please note that your CSI number is not currently active for My Oracle Support access. Once your order is processed, you will receive an alert about CSI activation and My Oracle Support access."

My order must have processed, I got the "Welcome Letter". So do I wait some more or is there some missing magic? What link should I be checking for access?

I try to find oracle 10g client/database in 32 bit window 7.
only V11.2 is certified on Windows 7

Correct. 10gR2 will be retired this year and Oracle has never certified their product for newer major versions of Windows.
11gR2 is certified for Windows 7.

only V11.2 is certified on Windows 7
Even then, it's only certified on the "Professional", "Extreme", "Awesome" editions. Not the wimpy "Home" edition.

You can download the software here:
http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/database/index.html

Metalink's certification tab shows that 11.2.0.1 is compatible with Windows 7 Professional and above. The 11.1.0.7 client can be installed on Windows 7, even though it is not listed as compatible (you can tell the installer to continue/ignore the expected version problem). 10.2.0.4 is not compatible with Windows 7, although the 10.2.0.5 patch, when released, may add support for Windows 7 as well as Windows 2008 R2 (both operating systems share a common kernel).
