after a few rebbots it finally started the installation but is giving the error "long mode not supported, rebooting.." Any clues?
Solaris 11 supports only 64-bit processor and this is the reason why you receive this message on your console.
Thanks Pascal for your reply,
I played around a bit with the Solaris 10 last night. It's obviously a command line OS. I couldn't get very far without a GUI interface.
Are there any GUIs' for Solaris ? I imagine it will be hard for me to configure awhole system through command line...
We have a GUI with Solaris 10 but if you cannot start it, then you have maybe an unsupported graphical chipset.
During Solaris 10 install, check if you can see something when you select the VESA driver.
