    Oracle r12 on virtual machine

    903466
      Hi,

I have installed Oracle r12 on virtual machine (linux) on my laptop.
I have noticed that virtual machine loses date/time.
How can I keep the date/time on my virtual machine in sync with my laptop date/time so that date and time in Oracle R12 is current?

      Regards,

            Hi Hussein,

I installed Linux flavour Oracle r12 on VM on my laptop running of Windows 7.

The Linux version is as follow:
            uname -r
            2.6.9-55.EL

I started my application on 2-Dec-11.
I ran the active users job on 12-Feb-12, but date in concurrent log is -Dec-11 14:32:33.
I am not sure why date and time of my application is not in sync with data and time of my desktop (Windows 7)

            Thanks

What if you set the date on the VM machine, does it change each time you reboot the VM OS?

              Thanks,
              Hussein

                Hi Hussein,

I don't reboot my VM. It is up sisnce 2-Dec-11, but for some reason the date is still 2-Dec-11 as on yesterday.

                Thanks

The application/database date will have the same date of the VM OS, so you need to fix the date on the VM OS and restart the database/application then.

                  Thanks,
                  Hussein

                      Hi Hussein,

Let me take you through the steps:

                      1. Login to laptop on Window7
                      2. Start the virtual machine.
                      3. Set the date and time.
                      4. Start database.
                      5. Start application.
                      6. Login to EBS r12.
                      7. Submit active users report and verify date/time

So far everything is fine. The issue comes up when I lock my laptop (Cntrl+Alt+Del). My virtual machine session goes down with network error. I loses my connection to EBSr12 session.
I open a new EBSr12 session and submit active users report and noticed that date/time have changed.
I suspect the issue is caused Virtual machine going down when laptop is locked, if there any way to prevent this?

                      Regards,
