jvisualvm in the jdk comes with some basic profiling tools. i believe netbeans and eclipse both have decent profiling tools available. quite honestly, though, if you are serious about it, we use yourkit java profiler (not free) and it is by far the best java profiler i have used. well worth the money.

You can try Java Monitor eclipse plugin. This gives detailed performance analysis on JVM level.
