DSCC Registry - error code 172

    920263
Hi everyone, I have problems when creating the DSCC registry
Im using Solaris 10 x86 and the ODSEE 11g (x86 installer)

      The error:

      # /install-path/dsee7/bin/dsccsetup ads-create
Choose password for Directory Service Manager:
Confirm password for Directory Service Manager:
      Creating DSCC registry...
      rc = 172
/install-path/dsee7/bin/dsadm exited with unexpected error code 172
Sofware installation is probably incomplete or corrupted

I've read in some post that ODSEE 11g is not compatible with Solaris 10 x86 or may be a password problem, what do you think?
      I'll really appreciate your help

      Thanks
      Regards

ODSEE 11g IS compatible with Solaris 10 x86 (you should have update 6 at least), as reported in the Supported Systems Configuration matrix:

          http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/odsee-11gr1certmatrix-161592.xls

This means that you're hitting some other problem... did you carefully followed the installation instructions?

            Hi all.

Be careful. ODSEE 11g is supported on Solaris 10 x64 (meaning intel or amd 64-bit). But it is not supported on Solaris 10 x86 32-bit. Looking at the error code, it seems that delivery for Solaris 9 x86 32-bit has been installed on Solaris 10 and this is not working.

            Regards.
            Carole.

              Hi Marco and Carole

Thanks both of you for your answers.

Carole: According to the supported system configuration matrix, ODSEE 11g x86 delivery is supported from Solaris 9 update 9 plus (32 bits) to the last version of Solaris 10. Or do you think I'm getting confused about the matrix?

Marco: I've downloaded and installed the ODSEE 11g many times following the installation guide, but the error is still showing :(

              I appreaciate your time.

              Regards.
              Osvaldo.

                Hi Osvaldo.

In "Solaris 9 update 9 +, *+* are for update part only not for Solaris version itself. So mean Solaris 9 update 9 and later update of Solaris 9

                Carole.

                  Hi Carole,

I think You're right :( so we have problems, because the enterprise I work for just bought a Sun Fire X4170 M2 Server with Solaris 10 x86 installed.

                  Thanks for your answer
                  Regards

I had the same issue at a virtualBox Server.

                    root@ods11g # ./dsccsetup ads-create
Choose password for Directory Service Manager:
Confirm password for Directory Service Manager:
                    Creating DSCC registry...
                    rc = 172
/opt/dsee7-x86/bin/dsadm exited with unexpected error code 172
Sofware installation is probably incomplete or corrupted

                    # /opt/dsee7-x86/bin/dsadm
Wrong 32-bit delivery used on a 64-bit platform

First you must check if the solaris is running 64 or 86 bits.
                    # /usr/bin/isainfo -kv
                    64-bit amd64 kernel modules

You must download the x64 version.
                    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/downloads/oid-11g-161194.html
                    http://download.oracle.com/otn/solaris/middleware/11g/111150/ofm_odsee_sun_x64_11.1.1.5.0_64_disk1_1of1.zip

At 64bits dsadm and dsccsetup ads-create commands work as well.
                    /opt/dsee7/bin/dsadm
                    Missing subcommand
For more information, see dsadm --help.

                    root@ods11g # ./dsccsetup ads-create
Choose password for Directory Service Manager:
Confirm password for Directory Service Manager:
                    Creating DSCC registry...
DSCC Registry has been created successfully

                    Regards
