SQL Plus supress startup shutdown messages

    Justin Patterson
      Hi,

I am looking to suppress the messages that popup when statring up and shutting down. I have added the -s to script so it looks like this from a shell script:

      sqlplus -s /nolog << EXIT
      set echo off
      connect / as sysdba
      startup
      exit
      EXIT

The -s suppresses banner messages and version info but I am still getting this as the output:
      TEST> start_script_silent
      ORACLE instance started.

Total System Global Area 1537056768 bytes
      Fixed Size 2158584 bytes
      Variable Size 1056968712 bytes
      Database Buffers 452984832 bytes
      Redo Buffers 24944640 bytes
      Database mounted.
      Database opened.
      TEST>

      Thanks,
      Justin
