Have you tried adding the word "down" to the line in the /etc/hostname.<interface> file for the interface in question?
Yes, I did, but it was unsuccessfully, after a reboot the interfaces were up.

So why not just unconfigure the interface and after it's up then someone can:
ifconfig if plumb
ifconfig if up
And then assign an IP address or use DHCP.
The problem is that the interface has got IPMP and manual IP address. Is there any command or options for ifconfig to configure the IPMP in both interfaces?
