We are using Oracle 7.3 which is now dump. This is a three tier application with cobol engine at the middle level. Some users are using a simple fornt-end interface, I need to reproduce these user queries in windows environment. I have extract the data from unix box and imported into windows box (whicle unix box is still running). Now I want to re-produce the user queries and check the validity of data in windows box. Is there any way that I can track/audit the user query in oracle 7.3 ? so I could run these queries into window based data and build a new interface and get rid of old unix box.
Based on what you've written I suspect 7.3 did not contain what you need to be able to do this ... but if I found myself in 7.3, other than a strong desire to something off a bridge, I would not move to Windows.
Any box that will run Windows will run Oracle Enterprise Linux and likely provide a superior platform.
Support contracts are not but the superior performance, stability, and availability of patches make OEL a vastly superior environment ... especially for a company that has internal Unix expertise such as yours.
