Also, I verified that the COM object is run by the service account, which is an admin on both servers.
UAC is disabled on the 2008 servers, right?
Did you ever get to the bottom of this?
We keep receiving this security package error in HFM, FR and Smart View connecting to HFM data sources.
Thanks for your help.
Anything in the Windows system or application logs related to the DCOM account? Intermittent DCOM connection failures were very common in Server 2003 and there was a Windows registry change which had to be made to correct this. I haven't seen it in a very long time though, and I don't know if that was resolved by patches in Server 2008, but here is the comment from the 126.96.36.199 readme:
Windows 2003 SP1: You may receive an "Access Denied" message while connecting from Financial Management Win32 or Financial Management Web. The client machine event log shows: “DCOM got error ‘General access denied error’ from the computer SERVER_NAME.DOMAIN_NAME, when attempting to activate the server.” Microsoft has provided the following workaround to resolve a code issue with its RPC layer by disabling bind time negotiation for security context multiplexing.
Based on this Microsoft support link, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/899148, the issue is fixed in 2003 SP2.
We have a similar environment and the same error. Did you find any answer on this?
Thank you all in advance,
