    sh: rmann:  not found WHEN USING $rman target / catalog rman/rman@rmann

    VIKHARAHMED
      Target DB Node CH1 & CH2 on RAC ( HP-UX 11.23 version ) > Oracle 10.2.0.4
      Catalog DB single RMAN ( Windows 7 ) > Oracle 10.2.0.5

      Configured Listener & tnsnames.ora files & able to tnsping each other.

      On Catalog DB , created tablespace > user > given all grants ( recovery_catalog_owner ) also > rman catalog rman/rman@rmann
      RMAN>CREATE CATALOG;
      created.
      Now at Target
      $export ORACLE_SID=chdb2
      $export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME
      $cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
      $RMAN target / catalog rman/rman@rmann
      sh: rmann: not found.

      After this error, i tried to connect using sqlplus to RMAN db using
      $cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
      $sqlplus rman/rman@rmann
      sh: rmann: not found.

      I tried with other users too, but same error message.

      Following are the env:

      My question & concern is, why i am unable to connect target & catalog using
      $rman target / catalog rman/rman@rmann
      sh: rmann: not found.

      Do i have to do anything on HP-UX shell files?

      NOTe:- sqlnet file parameters are same in both TARGET & CATALOG.

          $rman target / catalog rman/rman@rmann

          $export ORACLE_SID=chdb2

          Your sid is chdb2

          so you should write

          $rman target / catalog rman/rman@chdb2

            So, you can issue a 'tnsping rmann' from the target DB's?

            What happens if you on the target do
            $ rman
            RMAN> connect target /
            RMAN> connect catalog rman/rman@rmann

              Dear All,

              After taking help from my Senior, i've atleast resolved connecting to catalog db using sqlplus
              $sqlplus rman/rman@rmann
              sql>

              However, by using
              $rman
              RMAN>connect target / catalog rman/rman@rmann
              i get following error message:

                Hi,

                You need to switch the catalog and target, i.e.
                $ rman catalog rman/rman@rmann target /
                HtH

                  From the RMAN prompt, you can connect only 1 database at a time. Either Target or Catalog.
                  Connect as shown below:
                  rman>connect target /
                  rman>connect catalog rman/rman@rmann
                  or

                  From the terminal as shown below:

                  rman target / catalog rman/rman@rmann

                    Thank you for the help from you all. Finally my issue is resolved by doing following thing:

                    Before problem:
                    ============
                    $ stty -a
                    kill = @

                    Troubleshooting:
                    ==========
                    $ stty kill 'U'
                    $ stty -a
                    Changed to ---- kill = U

                    After Troubleshooing:
                    ==============
                    $stty -a
                    kill = U

                    Being at HP-UX CHDB2 instance
                    *====================*
                    $export ORACLE_SID=chdb
                    $export ORACLE_HOME=$ORACLE_HOME
                    $cd $ORACLE_HOME/bin
                    $rman target / catalog rman/rman@rmann
                    RMAN>register database;

                    starting full resync of recovery catalog
