What's the -XX:ParallelGCThreads option setting dependent on ?

, and the logical processors are total cores of physical processors * per cores of a physical processor.
The number of garbage collection threads. The default would be equal to the processor count, which would probably be unnecessarily high on a 32 thread capable system.
in ibm.com site, an article said it should be logical processors(cores), can we find the explanation from sun hotspot jvm source code ?

First of all you must check, if the JVM is running in a virtual or physical environment.
If running in a virtual environment, explicitly set -XX:ParallelGCThreads based on the number of CPUs assigned to the guest OS.
