I have setup 2 RAC nodes in Centos5.7.
I have set up the public,private and virtual address.
Just before starting the installtion of the RAC, I tried pinging RAC2 from RAC1 and vice versa.
I found that
RAC2--> RAC1 : YES
RAC2-->RAC2 : YES
RAC2 --> RAC1-PRIVATE : NO
RAC2 --> RAC2-PRIVATE : NO
RAC1--> RAC1 : NO
RAC1-->RAC2 : NO
RAC1 --> RAC1-PRIVATE : NO
RAC1 --> RAC2-PRIVATE : NO
Could anyone please tell me what the problem could be? Please tell me if you require any information.
Public and Private IP address must be able to ping before start the Oracle RAC Setup.
Please refer the network requirement
Let you know if any further queries the same :)

Thank you for your reply and for the link to the site.
I found out that if i create a new network adapter for the private node then by editing the network scripts I am able to ping correctly.
Earlier it was just eth0 per RAC node.
RAC1 : eth0 (public) and (private)
RAC2 : eth0 (public) and (private)
Now I changed it to
RAC1 : eth0 (public) and eth1(private)
RAC2 : eth0 (public) and eth1(private)
My understanding was that since it is a private node , it doesnt require a separate adapter.
Not sure why, but it is not able to ping with just one eth0 per RAC.
Anyway, got it working now.
Thanks a lot :)
