    Does a netstat -a|grep TIME show a lot of TIME_WAIT ports? Do you have anything like SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT.. in your listener.ora? Are there messages in the listener logs?

    You might consider sqlnet tracing if these worry you.

    Hi,

    Following is the output for (netstat -a|grep TIME)

    $ netstat -a|grep TIME
    tcp4 0 0 localhost.59291 localhost.9514 TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 dnhrmsadr.hdfc.c.ncube hdfcwebsrv2.hdfc.cnhrp TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 dnhrmsadr.hdfc.c.ncube hdfcwebsrv2.hdfc.kmsco TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 dnhrmsadr.hdfc.c.ncube hdfcwebsrv2.hdfc.1775 TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 hoax2.hdfc.com.ncube-l hdfcwebsrv2.hdfc.prodi TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 hoax2.hdfc.com.ncube-l hdfcwebsrv2.hdfc.pharm TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 hoax2.hdfc.com.51596 axdb1.hdfc.com.vistium TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 dnhrmsadr.hdfc.c.ncube hdfcwebsrv1.hdfc.4803 TIME_WAIT
    tcp4 0 0 hoax2.hdfc.com.ncube-l hdfcwebsrv1.hdfc.4808 TIME_WAIT

    There is nothing like SUBSCRIBE_FOR_NODE_DOWN_EVENT in listener.ora .

    I have checked there listener.log , and found OK, following is the output from listener.log

    12-MAY-2012 10:32:52 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=LOANS)(server=dedicated)(CID=(PROGRAM=c:\windows\system32\inetsrv\w3wp.exe)(HOST=HDFCWEBSRV2)(USER=NETWORK?SERVICE))) * (ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=tcp)(HOST=10.0.0.15)(PORT=2483)) * establish * LOANS * 0

    Regarding trace , we had enable client side tracing , but not found anything .

    My issue is sometimes it takes more time for connection to the database for both local and remote connection ....

    We checked network but not found any problem with it.

    If anything need to check , please let me known.

    The only unaccepted things is .. output of ps -ef | grep tns

    $ ps -ef | grep tns

    I don't known , is it accepted behaviour or there is some problem with listener or at OS level.

    Please reply ........

    Hi

    What's the actual, Oracle related, problem, if any?

    For ps command output perhaps some AIX forum is better suited, or

    $ man ps

    and read about the use of brackets.

    The processes seem to have spawned within a few seconds (from the ps command)... Is this temporary? What happened a second or two earlier? Two listener processes were started Mar 28. Could you bounce these?

    Are you using Shared Server configuration? If you have longer than very short queries, that would show your symptoms, though only through the listener. But you are sure BEQ connections also show the problem?

    Also, take a 15 minute statspack when the problem is happening, perhaps there will be a clue.

    Are you seeing any swapping on the OS side? I've seen cases where just a couple more users add enough PGA usage to send the box into a tailspin.
