Welcome to OTN,
I have setup a standby database (Oracle 10g SE). I applied hot backup and archive logs to the standby database till yesterday. I have opened the standby database using 'alter database open resetlogs;" and validated the application functionality using the standby database.Standby opened with *resetlogs* ? What you did? have you performed failover of standby database?
Now I want to regularly apply logs from the Primary database to the standby database, but today I have opened the standby database using 'alter database open resetlogs;"Have you enabled Flashback & created Restore point? If so you can do it.. If not rebuild standby again.
Need assistance to know the way to apply archive logs, once the standby database is opened with 'resetlogs' option to keep it in sync with the Primary database.
Check this scenario How To Open Physical Standby For Read Write Testing and Flashback [ID 805438.1]
We are using Oracle 10g SE.So standard edition, You have to manage like copying and applying archives manually.
I can keep applying archive logs on created failover databaseAgain, i didnt understand your point. "I can keep applying archive logs on created failover database" Clear more on it. If database resetlogs change is same then only you can able to apply archives on standby.
but I can not test data integrity and consistency using application. Is there any way to test data integrity and consistency without opening the database. If you dont want to test by opening database, You can check only sync between primary & stanbdy.
You can open database in read only mode, so that you can check it without any DML operations, because those are not allowed.
If broker is not an option you can always do it manually ... as most of the features are unavailable in standard edition , creating a DR database is a bit tricky.
1)Create a standby database as you would do normally.
2)As shipping is not available you could schedule a cron job to scp the archives at regular intervals and then apply them on the standby database that you created.
