The following URL has details on how to move the Access data to Oracle using the SQL*Developer Migration Workbench -
Migrating from Microsoft Access to Oracle -
However, if your main concern is in migrating reports to APEX then it may be better to open a thread in the Apex forum -
Forum: Application Express
Oracle Application Express (APEX)
Very often the time for these migrations really does depend on the complexity of the reports so it isn't always possible to give a timescale.
Thanks for your answer.
Well, we may need an APEX+Migration subforum ..
The point is that I am quite conscious that report migration is hard to estimate.
I would like to try to migrate a reduce set of reports (3, 5,10) in order to have a better estimation.
Has somebody seen an MS Access version of the Southwind or Northwind DB, including reports ready to be migrated and tested?
Hi Xav,1 person found this helpful
I think you are more likely to find someone who has experience of migrating reports in the Application Express forum than here, as the report migration is different from migrating just the data.
Try there and if they aren't able to help then get back here.
OK, Mike. I'll do it anyway.
You can download a sample Ms access northwind database from here : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=19704. If you just google it, you will find it. I have not load it myself but it has reports/forms.
With respect to estimating the effort involved in migrating the access reports to APEX, you can also check out this article on OTN: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-express/mig-index-095631.html and http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/apex/application-migration-workshop-167993.HTML. At least it can give you an idea on what the process might look like.
But overall the complexity of the migration will depend on:
1. Number of reports
2. Complexity of the reports in terms of MS access features that are not available in oracle
3. Features that cannot be converted by Migration workbench.
There is a partner that has developed good expertise to migrate to APEX in case you need external assistance.
