    NEWBIE Q: Problem Connecting to Remote 10g Database from own 11g Database

    940555
      Hi All,

      Was wondering if anyone can help me.

      Previously I was using Oracle 10g from my own PC (called DHX31000) and I used to be able to connect to an ODBC database (called MYDBA) that lived on DHX12000 simlpy by going into sqldeveloper and adding a new connection called MYDBA@DHX12000, Password MYDBA.

      I then upgraded my own Database to the 11.2g version (MYDAB@DHX12000 is still 10g) and now when I set up the connection although it tests fine, none of the tables are there. It seems to just be called "MYDAB@DHX12000" and isnt in fact connected to that DB at all.

      I have it set up in my tnsnames.ora file as this:

      XE1 =
      (DESCRIPTION =
      (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = dhx12000.europa.internal)(PORT = 1521))
      (CONNECT_DATA =
      (SERVER = DEDICATED)
      (SERVICE_NAME = XE)
      )
      )

      And my tnsnames lives at C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\11.2.0\server\network\ADMIN

      Thats how it was set up under the 10g version and everything worked fine. Not anymore!

      Can anyone help me? Let me know if you need more details.
