As far as I know there is no functional reason to switch to shared server. If you are going to run huge amounts of short running jobs, I can imagine that shared server might give a performance benefit because it can respond quicker to requests. The shared server processes are already in place, where dedicated server processes always need to be started for every session.
Thanks Ronald, that's exactly what I wanted to hear. We'll proceed in our testing environment without switching to shared server and see how things run.
