Did you try "pkg refresh" to ensure that your system has the current package catalog from the repository?
Unfortunately, that doesn't help.
You could also try 'pkg rebuild-index'.
On my M!0 running S11 it works as a user ...
user@host: ~ $ pkg list -u
NAME (PUBLISHER) VERSION IFO
consolidation/desktop/desktop-incorporation 0.5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.0 i--
consolidation/sfw/sfw-incorporation 0.5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.0 i--
driver/graphics/nvidia 0.280.13.0-0.175.0.0.0.0.0 i--
network/ssh/ssh-key 0.5.11-0.175.0.0.0.2.1 i--
system/library/freetype-2 2.4.6-0.175.0.0.0.0.1215 i--
user@host: ~ $
but not as root
root@host:~# pkg list -u
pkg: 3/4 catalogs successfully updated:
Framework error: code: 6 reason: Couldn't resolve host 'ipkg.us.oracle.com'
I suspect its because the remote repo is not currently accessible.
