    ilearning install error

I've been wrestling with this issue for a while now...

I've installed iLearning 5.2.1 according to the documentation. (installed the proper IAS, Oracle database and JDK versions).
The installation went smoothly, all database scripts ran without error. The ilearn application deployed to the Application Server and starts up.

However, when I want to log in to iLearning, I'm greeted by a blank page. The only error message I have in the log (oracle_home\j2ee\oil\log\oil_default_group_1\server.log) is this:

      12/06/12 19:44:53.175 Internal server error
      at oracle.ila.common.view.SimpleIlaAppModuleHelper.getNestedApplicationModule(SimpleIlaAppModuleHelper.java:139)
      at oracle.ila.common.nls.StringLoaderTimerTask.run(StringLoaderTimerTask.java:42)
      at java.util.TimerThread.mainLoop(Timer.java:512)
      at java.util.TimerThread.run(Timer.java:462)

and this in the apache error log

mod_oc4j: Failed to find a failover oc4j process for session request for destination: application://ilearning (no island or jgroup).

I first read that the apache error might be attributed to the server not having enough resources, so added more to the server, but nothing changed....

Anyone having any idea what this might be?
