    Enterprise Manager Not Working

    897568
Good day all the gurus in the house,

Please I do need some assistance connecting to Enterprise Manager on my ORACLE 11gR2. When I connect to https://ayodele-hp:1158/em/ and I click on "continue to this website", instead of displaying the login page, it displays the following error message:

      *503 Service Unavailable*
Servlet error: An exception occurred. The current application deployment descriptors do not allow for including it in this response. Please consult the application log for details.

      Please, what do I do.

      Thanks.

It mean oms is not up. Please check by command <ORACLE HOME of the oms>/bin/emctl status oms and start oms accordingly by emctl start oms

Thanks for you response, however I'm still unable to get it working. I'm currently running ORACLE on WINDOWS 7 OS and as per your advice, I open command prompt and connected to oms directory : *" c:\app\ayodele\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\BIN> emctl start oms "* and then I get the following errors :

            c:\app\ayodele\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\BIN>emctl start oms

To check status of OEM, execute at command prompt

              emctl status dbconsole

if it is not running than execute

              emctl start dbconsole.

                  Hi,

                  I would check:

                  - File <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname>_<sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties. If it is empty, then you can hit the symptom that you described. See MOS note 1093225.1 for more information.

                  - Log files in directory <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname>_<sid>/sysman/log for clues.

By the way, have you never been able to connect to the DB Control console successfully? If not, it is possible that your install/configuration was not successful. If necessary, check log files in directory <ORACLE_BASE>/cfgtoollogs/emca/<sid>.

                  Regards,
                  - Loc

Thank for your response Loc, I appreciate it. I check <ORACLE_HOME>/<hostname>_<sid>/sysman/config/emoms.properties and it was empty. On checking the emoms log files, I saw the following:

I have always been able to connect to the DB Control console. I am trying to see if I could get a solution to the problems as I'm planning as a last rest to drop the database and then re-creating it again.

                    Many thanks,

                    Ayodele

                      Ayodele,

It seems that you are hitting bug 6716659, for which a patch is available. Meanwhile, if you don't have a backup of file emoms.properties, you will have to reconfigure DB control. You can use the following commands for reconfiguring DB control.

                      emca -deconfig dbcontrol db
                      emca -config dbcontrol db

Thanks Loc for your assistance. The commands actually ran but I received the following message:

                        5) C:\app\ayodele\product\11.2.0\dbhome_2\bin\emctl.bat start dbconsole

After I ran the above scripts, the dbconsole could not be started. I opened a new terminal, set the ORACLE_SID to bank and then emctl start dbconsole. I got a message that the requested service is already started meanwhile, on the browser it displays "cannot display page".

I think I will drop the database and just create a new one as I need the DBconsole for my OCA & OCP training.

Thanks once again Loc and to everyone who tried to assist me fixing the problem.

                          Hi,

Can you please provide some guidance to use the management pack/enterprise manager. We also need to use this component for 11gR2 monitoring however we are not sure the enterprise manager version compatible to monitor 11gR2 products and if there is any bug/issue with this EM version which we need to highlight upfront. Thanks
