Uncertified Disk

We have a StorageTek 6540 with 300GB FC drives. We recently received four drives in for replacement. When replaced we receive this error: "An uncertified drive has been detected: TrayXX.DriveXX"
Recommendation is: "Replace the uncertified drive with a certified drive."
I get that. But this is a Oracle/Sun drive part number and label. It appears to be authenticate.
How do I know if it is certified or not?
The drives in the Array are at F/W rev. 3092 (for the most part), a few others with no issues (0005 and 091C). But the new drives are F/W version 0705 and E5C4.

What can we do to fix this problem and how can we make sure in the future these are certified in the future?

Presumably you logged a SR to get those drives.

You need to call back on that same SR ticket number and ask Oracle.
No one here has access to any of the details on that.

    Go ask the company.

    Exactly.

Although I will add that maybe you need to upgrade your array firmware, as newer firmware could support disks with different firmware.

Unfortunately, we do not have a Service contract so we do not have an SR. We were just hoping someone here had run into a similar problem and had a fix.
Drive were possibly purchased from a third-party but have Oracle/Sun labels and part numbers. Also, this site is unable to update to latest firmware for the controllers.
The drive firmware is at 3092, except for failed "uncertified" drives, they are at 0705 or E5C4.

    Thank you.

... then go back to that third party source and ask if they might exchange the drive that is giving you the issue. Your expense would be shipping costs.

If they won't exchange the drive, buy another one.

Without access to Oracle support for parts or firmware patching, you've given yourself few choices.
