how to restart apex listner configuration process

    946241
I installed oracle application express and was configuring the APEX listener which ended with the error because listener service was not available.
After troubleshooting that LSNRCTL, it is up and running.

Now I want to start configuring the APEX listener process again.

      I tried following:

      started installation process
java -jar apex.war (It ran for a while and appreared to be hung so I cancelled it)

I tried to go to the url

      http://localhost:8080/apex (got page not found)
      http://127.0.0.1:8080/ (got page not found)
      http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerconfigure (got page not found)

Basically I am not able to reinstall or getting any url to work.

Following is the status of my listener

I got this to work on my laptop just yesterday. The process stopped (appeared to hang but seems to have been running) and I had to leave the window open or I got the page not found error. With the listener started and the window still open I got to the Apex login screen and logged in

Odd because I don't have to use the java command to use Apex on my legacy XP laptop or home desktop - just start the database and use the URL to log in

Thank you very much for your reply.

Just want to confirm that your restarted the listener installation process by
java -jar apex.war command. and let it run for long time.
Can you kindly provide the information aprox. how long? few hours, overnight etc.?

Also you mentioned that the apex login screen.
when I installed first time I saw the screen with user name, db port, host etc information. which is the connection tab on the
            http://localhost:8080/apex/listenerconfigure url.

I have restarted this morning around 9 AM and I see following on the dos window:

            C:\Users\sidhwaneyj>java -jar c:\apex_listner\apex.war

In your opinion, I should leave it alone and hope it will work.

right now when i go to that url I only see 'done' at the bottom instead of 'Page not found' like before.

            Thank you very much

I let it run for a few moments and then logged in. The URL you cited seems correct.

Once the listener is going there are other reasons why the Apex login page may not appear ranging from unlocked accounts to remembering to follow all the setup instructions. You may need to open another thread in the Apex forum (this forum is for the listener).

Also, I have a Word document for Apex where I record how-to and set-up issues - I install only intermittently and forget the ins and outs of the process. The notes help not repeat mistakes after not installing for a year or two :)

              Good luck!

do you mind sharing your word document?
                I really appreciate it.

Thank you all for whatever help you could provide.

I figured out how to restart configuring apex listener if the process was halted due to problem with database listener.

After my db listener problem was fixed I just started apen listener by following command

java.exe -Dapex.home=path of apex -Dapex.images=path of image files -Dapex.port=8080 -jar path of apex.war

then go to url specified in the users guide.

                  http://localhost:8080/apex/listnerConfigure.

                    Are you accessing Apex now?

I can't email the document - too large. The mention was to help to to record the problem and its solution for yourself for future use
