I have a VirtualBox appliance having an Oracle Linux 64 and I run it on a Windows 7 64 guest. I need to change the keyboard layout and the only place I found is the File->Preferences->Language. But when I start the apliance, in the terminal window whic is displayed, I still have the an US keyboard. How may I modify that ?
If I understand you correctly, you are talking about the setting inside your linux appliance. You'll need to change that inside that machine since it should not have anything to do with your host system or virtualbox. Try "System->Preferences->Keyboard" within your VM
In order to be able to do System->Preferences->Keyboard you need to login. And to login, you need to use a keyboard. And if your keyboard is not recognized, then you have a problem. So I think my question is crystal clear: how to change the keyboard settings, not in the appliance, but in the virtual machine config ? I'm certainly not the first who needs that !
