J R, that is awesome! Thank you for sharing!
JR, have you tried combining the two images into a single VirtualBox VM for minimal hardware? I'm planning to build a portal image and am thinking of just mounting the TOOLS.img disk into the db VM at /opt/oracle/psft/pt. I would also need to either symlink the apptools directory or update PS_APP_HOME to point to /opt/oracle/psft/ptdb/apptools
I had not thought of just using a single VM guest, what we called logical 3 tier back in the day. Great idea! I'll give it a try and post my results.
Just a note that I had to create a firewall rule to open port 1521 on my Windows 7 host to be able to connect to my Oracle XE database from the app server VM guest -- Chapter 12 integration :)
Hi all, just wanted to share that we (me and a colleague ) got inspired to try this too using Jim great post, and we were amazed with which ease you can quicky install a fully configured Peoplesoft environment within a couple of hours instead of days. The config scripts that are delivered with the vm's setup all that is needed, db, pia, appserv, prcs.
I would advise everyone, who wants to have a local sandbox up and running, to follow Jim's post and use the ovm templates.
