        You and me both, brother...you and me both.
        DBMS_SCHEDULER.CREATE_JOB(
                                              job_name              => GZIP_JOB_NAME,
                                              job_type              =>'EXECUTABLE',
                                              job_action            => GZIP_CMD_ROOT,
                                              enabled               => FALSE,
                                              number_of_arguments   => 2,
                                              start_date            => SYSTIMESTAMP );

                    DBMS_SCHEDULER.SET_JOB_ARGUMENT_VALUE(
                                            job_name            => GZIP_JOB_NAME,
                                            argument_position   => 1,
                                            argument_value      => '-f' );

                    ls_GZipArgs := as_GZipTargetPath || '/' ||
                                   as_InputFileName;

                    DBMS_SCHEDULER.SET_JOB_ARGUMENT_VALUE(
                                            job_name            => GZIP_JOB_NAME,
                                            argument_position   => 2,
                                            argument_value      => ls_GZipArgs );
        There are some variables in there but you can see the gist of it. Not very different from tar (which still doesn't work BTW).
