Cleansing Editor

When you use the cleansing editor to fix invalid representation errors by editing the errors and changing their charaterset , is the the change only for the records edited or does it change the characterset for the whole column or table? We will be correcting errors in stages and it may take weeks to fix all the errors so the database will still be updated before the actual conversion. The fixing of the data will be at an off hour time with little to no usage.

Thanks

If you use the cleansing editor to directly modify the contents of specific data cells, the changes will apply to those cells only. If you use the character set tagging feature from the cleansing editor, it will apply to the columns that you select. You can also set the assumed character set at the database level if all of your data is in a different character set than the declared database character set.

It's recommended to perform a full database scan before the actual conversion to make sure no new data exceptions were introduced since the last analysis.

Thanks for the reponse I have 2 more questions
    1. How do you fix SCHEMAS that are EBIZ suite? You get a warning when trying to cleanse them. Do I need to open an SR ? and if so which group?
    2. How do you fix "Invalid Representation" when the data is XML?

    Thanks

For migrating EBS instances, you should first take a look at MOS note 124721.1. If you need assistance with cleansing EBS data, please log an SR with EBS support.
