Hi Guys
steps done so far:

1. @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
2. @apxchpwd
3. install standalone listener :
java -jar apex.war
4. start listener:
java –Dapex.home=apex_location –Dapex.images=images_location –Dapex.port=8088 –jar apex.war
5. go to admin screen
http://servername:8088/apex/listenerAdmin
6. Admin screen is blank.
7. @apex_epg_config /tmp
8. Admin screen is still blank.

Any ideas why?

    Hi,
    1. @apexins SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/
Which APEX version did you install? I assume the current one, which would be 4.1...
    3. install standalone listener :
    java -jar apex.war
What did you enter during this (initial) configuration? Did you receive any error? Did you run "listenerConfigure"?
    4. start listener:
    java –Dapex.home=apex_location –Dapex.images=images_location –Dapex.port=8088 –jar apex.war
Could you post the console output from startup...
    5. go to admin screen
    http://servername:8088/apex/listenerAdmin
    ... up to that action?
    7. @apex_epg_config /tmp
This doesn't change anything, as this is only relevant when you use the Embedded PL/SQL Gateway, which is another option to host your APEX Instance. It uses the database internal XDB HTTP Server and the script you've executed loads the static contents into the XDB...
    8. Admin screen is still blank.
Could you check the page source if it's really blank?

    Yes it is 4.1

entered admin pwd and manager pwd. No error. I did not run listenerConfigure
    3. Could you post the console output from startup...

You should have. This is the place for creating the initial configuration...
But seeing your log, I think you have completed this step at least once.

That's only true for the database connection parameters and is the intended behaviour. In the current release of APEX Listener, you can't change these parameters while the application is running. There are two options to reconfigure:
    1. erase the current configuration (e.g. by setting the parameter Dapex.erase=true at startup or by deleting at least the apex-config.xml which is located in +/home/test/scripts/apex/apex-config.xml+ corresponding to your log)
    2. stopping APEX Listener and edit the apex-config.xml manually (again, +/home/test/scripts/apex/apex-config.xml+ would be the place to look at).

But you should be able to change other parameters, e.g. the JDBC pool parameters, and you should be able to change to a different tag, e.g. to change security or caching settings or to view the current status of the APEX Listener. Is that possible?

    I ran option 1
erase the current configuration (e.g. by setting the parameter Dapex.erase=true at startup or by deleting at least the apex-config.xml which is located in /home/test/scripts/apex/apex-config.xml corresponding to your log)

    But now
    cd /home/test/apex
    ls -ltr
    there are no files.

So I am trying to remove apex and reinstall. How do I do it?

    Thanks

    cd /home/test/apex
    ls -ltr
    there are no files
That's what you would expect after erasing, right?
No you should be asked to enter credentials for admin and manager as well as the path to your images again. You should then able to rerun listenerConfigure where you can enter your database connection parameters.

    Basically this is using "erase".
