          Hi,
This is the Oracle Forms forum.

Have you started your instance and listener? Are you able to connect to your instance in SQLPlus?

          If not, then please post there {forum:id=61}

          Regards,

And you are trying to connect in Form Builder (Ctrl J) with the same "hr"....? With SID ORCL?

              Cheers,

                Hi Toto,

Just add the database entry to the Host File entry..

                C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

The entry Should be something like this,

                For Example:

In the etc host file give your Database Name followed by the IP address of the Database as like this,

                10.9.23.171 ORCL

Use, the TNSPing Utility from Command Prompt as,
                C:\Documents and Settings\s0891811>tnsping orcd

TNS Ping Utility for 32-bit Windows: Version 9.0.1.3.1 - Production on 19-JUL-20

                C:\OraDevSuite\network\admin\tnsnames.ora

Used TNSNAMES adapter to resolve the alias
                Attempting to contact (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)

                    Hi,
Where is you DB located? On the same machine as the devsuite 10g or some other machine?

The SID that you use in the connect string in Form Builder must be accessible on TNSPING from the machine where you are running Devsuite.
Use the following command from the command prompt to check if it is accessible.
                    CMD> TNSPING ORCL

If TNSPING fails then replace the line below in tnsnames.ora file
                    >
                    <s>(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = Shippuden-PC)(PORT = 1521))</s>
                    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <IP ADDRESS OF DB SERVER>)(PORT = 1521))
                    >

If that too fails change the line in tnsname.ora as shown below

                    >
                    (CONNECT_DATA =
                    <s>(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)</s>
                    (SID = orcl)
                    >

                    Cheers,

You either have an incorrect tnsnames.ora or are using incorrect SID in your connect string.

Post your tnsnames.ora in the C:\OraDevSuite\network\admin\ folder AND the connect string that you use when connection to SQLPlus as well as Forms Builder.
