Adding JVM component on an existing oracle DB instance.

    User374238
      Good afternoon, everybody.
I'm studying the possibility to make OS System calls from a pl/sql procedure,
and for that it's necessary to have a java source
on the database, and in other to do that I need to install the JVM on my database instance.

I saw the documentation on metalink about adding the JVM to the database, and it seems very
dangerous, because it recommends to shutdown the database.

My question is: Is it really necessary to shutdown the database to add the JVM?

      Regards: Leandro Freitas.

Pl post details of OS and database versions. JVM comes installed in the database automatically - there is no need to install it.

Yes, not all the products are installed in my company database.
