    Full tablespace in EM 12c

    CH-Jürgen
      Hi all,

i am a little bit confused and maybe i am also a little bit stupid.

Startet now with EM 12c (running EM 10.2 and 11.1 too).
Installed new repository database and OMS on a new server (Solaris 10 x86-64 Bit)

everythink is running fine. Make the first test to get an alert (now called incident).
Take a tablespace of my repository db (USERS) abd filled it up to 90%
Metrics for warning is 50%, for crirical is 70% and it should be checked very 1 minute (yes, this is to often, just for test)

But nothing happend! I can't see no warning nor critical?

The Tablespace is not: "auto extent"

Did i forget anythink? Where is my error in Thinking? where will this alerts be shown.

      Thanks for your help

      Jürgen

In em12c you should navigate to "Incident Management" and look in view "All Alerts" to check if an alert was created.

Are you sure the metrics and trheshold were set before you filled your tablespace?

You should also check in the database itself in DBA_OUTSTANDING_ALERTS, does the alert occur here?

          Regards

            Hi Rob,

            thanks for your answer:
In em12c you should navigate to "Incident Management" and look in view "All Alerts" to check if an alert was created.
            do you mean:
            Enterprise
            Monitoring
            Incident Manager
            All open incidents
            All open problems

if not, where can i find "Incident Management" ??

Are you sure the metrics and trheshold were set before you filled your tablespace?
            Yes
You should also check in the database itself in DBA_OUTSTANDING_ALERTS, does the alert occur here?
            Yes, the alert occured here:
            USERS
            TABLESPACE
Tablespace [USERS] is [97 percent] full
            06-AUG-12 05.07.37.413530 PM +02:00
            06-AUG-12 04.37.34.989635 PM +02:00
            Add space to the tablespace
            97.265625 Warning Space
            1
            SPACE MANAGEMENT:ktt.c

On the database-page there is also no warning or critical error

            any idea?

            Regards
            Jürgen

Yes Jurgen, you are looking at the right location in em12

I know that there are several situations where an alert that was created in the database does not succeed in getting alerted in EM.

There are some notes on this in MOS.

For instance: DBA_OUTSTANDING_ALERTS NOT SHOWING ALERT FOR TABLESPACE THAT EXCEEDED THRESHOLD [ID 870602.1]

I would advise to start searching over there.

              Regards
              Rob

                Hi Jurgen,

we had same issue with tablespace alerts in OEM 12c with specific (EE8MSWIN1250) character set. You can see alert in DBA_OUTSTANDING_ALERTS, you can see correct tablespace full % value in OEM but no alert is generated and severity is normal/OK. DB with UTF charset were without issue. Please see doc 1405504.1 and tried described solution which helps us.

                Regards,

                Ludek
