O/S: Windows 7 64-bit
DB: Oracle XE 11.2
Gateway: Oracle ODBC 11.2
When installing the Oracle Gateway for ODBC on one Windows 7 system, everything works fine.
However, after installing the Oracle Gateway for ODBC on another Windows 7 system, the Gateway listener does not exist/appear as a service.
I noticed that on the second install there were no REGISTRY_KEY values for the Gateway installed under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE->Oracle.
Has anyone experienced this? What could be the cause?
It's difficult to say why ythis happened on this install.
If you start the gateway listener manually then this should create it as a service and add the relevant entries to the registry.
The problem is that the Oracle documentation is incorrect. The documentation states that you must cancel the NETCA (Net Config Asst). But the only way I could get this to work was to allow the NETCA to run and go through the configuration process. After that is completed, one must manually update the listener.ora file for the gateway to reflect what the documentation states.
