Hi,

on the server:

emctl status dbconsole

here you get also your http-adress to call

if it's not running:

emctl start dbconsole

regards,

You have to set the ORACLE_SID enviroment variable before start the dbconsole.

For Linux:
export ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>

emctl start dbconsole
For Windows:
SET ORACLE_SID=<database_sid>

emctl start dbconsole

I tried this with a batch file and got the error below. I'd appreciate any help on what is missing:

E:\oracle10g\bin>REM Batch file to start OEM database control.

E:\oracle10g\bin>Setlocal

E:\oracle10g\bin>SET ORACLE_SID=RMS10

E:\oracle10g\bin>call emctl start dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. E:\oracle10g/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_ATLAS1_RMS10 not
found.
Press any key to continue . . .

Did you create the database RMS10 with the dbca ?

to start oracle enterprise manager database control 10g
emctl start dbconsole(this will start dbcontrol on
http://hostname:5500/em
to get the status of dbconsole
emctl status dbconsole
to stop the dbconsole
emctl stop dbconsole
NOTE: if you got the message FAILED TO SHUTDOWN DBCONSOLE GRACEFULLY on linux machine, it means that emctl cannot recognize the localhost ip address check your network configuration, check your network configuration and look for the record localhost 127.0.0.1,
restart the network service(/etc/init.d/network restart. then try again

I have taken a look at the link that you provided however I am still having issues. When I try and start the OEM using your suggestion, I receive the following error:

[oracle@BroadBusStreamCommander oracle]$ emctl status dbconsole
TZ set to US/Eastern
OC4J Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_BroadbusStreamCommander_bmcs not found.

I have verified that this "not found" directory does exist. Any assitance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I have pretty much the same problem:

TZ set to US/Eastern
OC4J Configuration issue. /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_srvstat10_stat not found

I realized that there is a /u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole/ directory in place and I copied this one to the directory the emctl is requesting

Now it is looking for config files in the folder:
/u01/app/oracle/product/10.1.0/db_1/srvstat10_stat
that does not exist either.

Any hints are highly appreciated.

I have similar problems. I have removed and installed Oracle twice to see if that would help. Every time I am able to actually start OEM, but when I reboot the PC it stops functioning. The two first times OEM was to be found at http://PJMOBILE:5500/em/ and the third time at http://localhost:5500/em/. I wonder why its different.

So I read the previous notes on this issue with great interst. I tried the different advises but with out success.

When I typed "emctl" I got the message "EM Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1/PJMOBILE_global not found."

WHen I types "emctl start dbconsole" I got the message "OC4J Configuration issue. C:\oracle\product\10.1.0\Db_1/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_PJMOBILE_global not found."

In both cases it looks for files in a path name based on my computer name PJMOBILE as opposed to based on "localhost". These directoriues are not there but their localhost counterparts are.

So it seems to me that rebooting my machine has caused some environment variable to be erased.

I hope this adds to the analysis of matters.

Best regards

Hi,

I was also bothered with the following error message.

emctl start dbconsole
OC4J Configuration issue. E:\oracle10g/oc4j/j2ee/OC4J_DBConsole_ATLAS1_RMS10 not
found.

I solved this problem by starting the daemon 'LISTENER'.
Without starting the LISTENER, Oracle Server can not have any connection from Client.

Here is the procedure configure and start Listener.

1. cd <ORACLE_HOME>/bin
2. netca

After that, I hit "etcml status dbconsole" command.
No Error message was appeared and OEM is running.

I hope it'll be great hints.
