        - The answer to why the priority is low would be helpful - if there is a reason that I can do something about.

        - Java is used for Desktop Applications. I've been doing desktop Java application development (Swing) for a decade. That's a lot of code that isn't going to get converted instantly to JavaFX. Swing still needs to be usable and not crash the JVM when a user tries to save their work. That Oracle is investing effort into JavaFX demonstrates that they also understand that Java on the desktop makes sense. Our new applications are JavaFX-based. We do a mix of C++ and Java with all of the UI done with Java.

        - They can't get the switch-over to JIRA done soon enough!

I find it interesting that this month this issue was marked as fixed with a comment that claimed a build with the fix was sent to "the customer". I am the bug reporter, and I wasn't informed at all.

          The backport: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=8001127 to 7u12

          Status:Resolved

Can you confirm the bug is fixed in 7u12?

This issue is definitely not resolved. I am running Java build 1.7.0_21-b11 on Windows 7 64 bit machine and I am seeing the problem consistently. Filechooser comes up, I click on the icon to see file details, click on any of the columns to sort, and the jvm crashes.
