Dell Precision M6600 laptop Certification for Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5

Dear Experts,

Please share the certification for Dell Precision M6600 laptop with Oracle Enterprise Linux 5.5 (x86 64 bit) Operating System.

Please give it a high priority as this is a business critical requirement.

    Please be note that this is a user forum. People here participate on a voluntary basis. Requesting a priority answer for a business critical requirement is inappropriate and might even upset some people.

    Enterprise Linux systems like Oracle Linux are primarily designed for hardware found in server systems. It does generally not support all the fancy hardware found in laptop or desktop systems for reasons of reliability. This does not necessarily mean Enterprise Linux won't work on your laptop, it probably will, but your mileage will vary.

    You need to ask Dell for information about what OS is supported for their products, or search for information on the web. A quick google for your model shows that RHEL 6 is supported. Since Oracle Linux 6 is binary compatible with RHEL 6, Oracle Linux 6 should work too. RHEL 5 however is not listed as a supported OS for your system, and therefore OEL 5.5 is neither.

    To reinforce what was mentioned in the first response...
    There is no "urgent" in these forums and your statement that everyone must jump to your request just because you say so is rude.

    You have been a viewer of these user-to-user OTN forums for more than a year. That is far long enough to know better.

    For the future, whenever you have a critical business need for information, you will need to use your support credentials and log a SR ro Oracle Technical Support. Be prepared each time to prove to them that such a need exists.
