Well, I'm not sure I get everything you want to do. First of all, what is "com" ?
I'll give it a try from what I understand. That's of course possible to make your computer as a client of Peoplesoft application, without the need to have the database on your local drive. If you have to use a 2tier connection (direct database connection), then just install an Oracle client, and the Peopletools version the database has been configured with.
Regarding the PIA, appserver, batch server, I'm pretty sure won't need it neither on your local drive, they should be available on a remote host as well.
Thanks so much, but I will like to know what do you mean by Peopletools version the database has been configured with? As for the com it means computer. :)
So can I assume that PIA, appserver, batch server as long as the main domain that has it, the other clients do not have to install? What other things I must include for the client? And I am suppose to use 3 tier connection for you information :) Please help me. I really need help and this is because I am new to this software.
The database has been installed and configured with a given Peopletools version, say 8.52.x. You have to have the same version onto your local machine.
And since you want only third tier connection, no need to have any database client.
PIA is a server process to make front end users be able to connection onto the application using their own browser.
AppServer is a server process allowing people to connect in a 3tier mode, and which manage all the Peoplesoft thingy, exclusively to run on the server to make it available for all.
Batch Server, same as AppServer, exclusively on server side to make job process running out there. Not on any client.
Consequently, download the Peopletools (same version as the Peoplesoft database), configure the 3tier connectivity within the Configuration Manager and enjoy PSoft.
So do I need to run the PIA for the client side desktop? As for the database, do you mean that I need to run PsMpDbInstall in my PT8.52? I can't find any 8.52.x version of database. Can I know where to find that folder or file? Can I download it? So for Appserv and Batch serv, do you mean that it must be run on the main desktop only?
Please do assist me. Thanks.
I don't understand your architecture. All in one desktop ? Or is it with a server ?
So far, I only can advise you to read carefully the Peopletools Installation Guide which give you an entire picture of the needs in order to work on Peoplesoft.
Sorry, but one of the best advice here would be that you need a short Peoplesoft training, especially on the 4tier PSoft architecture.
Database and AppServer are running onto the server, on client side you don't need them.
Depending of the use, on client side you'll need or not a "database client software" for DMS access. Then you'll need the Peopletools installation.
If your database has been installed within the Peopletoolss 8.52, then install Peopletools 8.52 onto the client desktop. Binaries are avalaible for download on http://edelivery.oracle.com, but if you need a patch (8.52.xx, xx being the patch number), then you'll need an access to the Oracle support (and this is not free).
Refer to the link I gave earlier for the requirements and the software needed.
I understood your problem do one thing i believe you are using psoft for a test ot demo purpose so you basically have
a) Server : Here install appserver,database server,webserver...
b) Client Machine's : Here install Client only software which is available with PeopleTools 852 before installing this Install Oracle client 32bit and test whether all peoplesoft users are getting connected like people/peop1e and SYSADM/SYSADM....
First follow Peopletools 852 installation on oracle guide and get this instance Up and Running...
Second do the client installation...
Which is the operating system you are using is it 32 or 64 bit??
