    How to disable data guard broker configuration

    user5199319
      Hi All,

      I have a 2-noded RAC server live and 2 -noded RAC standby server which is configured with Data Guard Broker.

      Tonight, i have to defer data guard broker configuration because of a cold cleanup operation with no logging.

      But i do not know how to disable and enable this configuration?

      Regards,

            Hi,

            You can use DGMGRL as
             DGMGRL> disable configuration;
             DGMGRL> enable configuration;
            Regards

                    Hello,

                    I read comments from Mahir and Mseberg. I think you have answer for it already.
                    But There are two terms 1) Disabling 2) Removing

                    You can disable Configuration of Broker any time and easily you can enable broker configuration whenever you want but still you will have the configuration information.
                    But if you go with cleanup of configuration, You will lose information of configuration. If your requirement is to disable only for certain time then go with first option i.e. Disabling Broker configuration.
                    cold cleanup operation with no logging.
                    can you use the standard word for this please? Because i heard purging or archiving of data to other tables with no logging to avoid much redo/arch generation, But what is the relation with Broker?

                    Probably you may want to disable sending redo to the remote destination? If so you just need to disable the remote destination as below.
                    DGMGRL> EDIT DATABASE 'database' SET STATE='TRANSPORT-OFF';
                    There are much difference in disabling broker configuration, disabling remote destination, cleanup of configuration.
                    So be clear with it and update the thread.

                    Thank you
