    yum repository question

    Earl Lewis
I'm running Oracle Linux on Virtual Box (one of the packaged VMs) and I'm trying to run yum to install subversion. When I type:
      yum install subversion
I get the following error message:
      http://uln-internal.oracle.com/yum/EnterpriseLinux/EL5/addons/i386/repodata/repomd.xml: [Errno 12] Timeout: <urlopen error timed out>
      Trying other mirror.
Error: Cannot retrieve repository metadata (repomd.xml) for repository: el5_addons. Please verify its path and try again
I just downloaded the repository configuration file from http://public-yum.oracle.com/public-yum-el5.repo so I would think the URLs are current. Anyone have any ideas what I might be missing here?

Looks like that .repo file is broken. I'll let the ULN guys know -- please edit the file and switch any reference to uln-internal.oracle.com to public-yum.oracle.com.

Edited to add that I've just checked the .repo file on public-yum.oracle.com and there are no references to uln-internal anywhere in the file. Please make sure you have the latest version.

Arrrgh!! There was a second file in the yum.repos.d directory that was fouling things up. I renamed the file to keep yum from looking at it and now it's just humming along. Thanks and sorry for the oversight on my part. I wouldn't have given it the proper attention without your clues. Thanks again.
