Oracle VDI 3.4.1: root login problem

    Kweepeer-Oracle
      Hi,

I just installed and configured VDI 3.4.1 on Solaris 10 x86 U10 with Solaris 10 patches from August 2012.
When I connect to http://vdi:1800 (redirected to https://vdi:1801/vda/faces/jsp/login/Login.jsp) I get the login page of VDI but I cannot login with root:

"Authentication Failed User name and/or password is wrong - try again."

although password of root is okay (works with ssh)

      Any idea?

      Thnx, P

            Hi,

it seems to be a connection problem to mysql (embedded installation):

            /var/cacao/instances/vda/logs/cacao.0

Does your 'cacaoadm -V' output report a version newer than 2.2.5.0? If so, you may have Solaris Patch 123896-50 installed, which VDI 3.4 is known to have problems with, due to the new default SSL connection method to the MySQL database.

If this is the case, you should revert to 123896-25, as this is the known working/tested version of cacao framework for VDI.

After rolling back to 123896-25, restart VDI services with '/opt/SUNWvda/sbin/vda-service restart' and see if this corrects the issue?

              Regards,

              -Ryder

                Hi,

                thanks for your input.

I'm running 2.2.5. I also reverted to -25 and I do get another error now. I will switch back to -51 as I have 2.2.5 and not higher as you mentioned...

No, I did not, I just reinstalled Solaris 10u10 without further patching. I will try vdi and see if the problem persists. I think the problem is related to cacao patching... I'll come back with an answer soon.
                    Thnx, Peter

                      Hi,

I just added vdi 3.4.1 to a newly installed Solaris 10 x86 U10 environment (no additional solaris 10 patches applied) and now I'm able to login as root.
So it seems to be related to the patch level of my system.

I'll close this thread now although it not really solved...

thnx for helping me out, Peter
