              You need to have Oracle client, using toad can connect to db server using hostname.

                Hi svee,

                Like you said i installed the oracle client and also in the tnsnames.ora file i mentioned by db related entries in it. After that i reinstalled the informatica server alone first(but dint do the client).

                Once the server in installed, i went to the administration to create the repository services, but then also the same error like
                Could not execute action...
                
                The PowerCenter Repository Service was created, but the service could not be enabled. You must enable the service before you can create content. The following error occurred while attempting to create the content. Error - [DOM_10079] Cannot start service [Oracle_BI_DW_Base] on any node specified for the service. Check the service log and resolve any error listed for the service. Then restart the service.
                In logs, it is like
                OBJM_54538: Unable to connect to repository Oracle_BI_DW_Base on database OBIDB.world
                
                REP_51002: 
                Failed to logon to database server
                Database Driver error
                Function Name: logon
                ORA - 12154:TNS:couldnot resolve the connect identifier specified
                Im not sure with the error svee. What could be the problem.

                Note:

                Soon after Oracle client is installed i went to the below path to find the tnsnames.oRA file
                C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin\sample
                In the above path i copied the tnsnames.oRA file and i pasted that file in the below location
                C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin
                Also in the original tnsnames.orA file i replaced all the entires with my connection db details like below
                OBIDB =

                Previously, in my original tnsnames.orA file which is present under the location C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin\sample. i copied that file to the location C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin and replaced the original below contents with the above db details that i specified.

                These are the original contents

                Also i have setted the following environmental variables too in my windows environment.

                INFA_HOME----->C:\Informatica\9.1.0
                MW_HOME------>C:\BIHome
                ORACLE_HOME->C:\BIHome\Oracle_BI1
                ORACLE_INSTANCE-->C:\BIHome\instances\instance1

                  You need to edit the file at no need to look at the sample folder.
                  C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1\network\admin

                  make sure tns entry is working using tnsping <tnsname> in command prompt.
                  You need to create a repository then go for new content during the creation of the rep service.

                    Now it looks like it is being OKay. But again if i tried to create repository services means then too the same problem.

                    But i have a doubt svee, if i set ORACLE_HOME = C:\app\Administrator\product\11.2.0\client_1 as a environmental variable in windows environment and after that if i give tnsping obidb means then it is pinging like above.

                    Suppose if i set ORACLE_HOME = C:\BIHome\Oracle_BI1 as a environmental variable in windows environment and if i tried tnsping obidb means, then it is not pinging resulting in below error like

                    So, which one needs to be set as a ORACLE_HOME whether the client location or the BI location. If i set BI location as a oracle home then tns is not pinging and  getting the above error, but if i set client location as a oracle home then the tns is pinging, but couldn't create the repository service as it is resulting in same error svee.

                    What might be the problem.

                      Finally the informatica repository service got created with the help of the oracle 32bit client like you said.

                      Thanks for your entire effort in solving this issue.

                      Not sure, why the oracle 64bit client dint worked. Letz see whether the Oracle will have a fix for that.

                        I am not able install, could you please help me? Can you provide steps?

                          Please can you create a new thread as this one has already been answered.

                          Please can you provide more details? Why are you unable to install the DAC and Informatica Servers? Do you have any error messages? Can you provide the exact part numbers you downloaded from eDelivery e.g. V12345-01 etc
